We recommend that you never exceed the oil level when topping up the engine oil or when adding oil additives. If there is too much oil in the engine, it can cause a lot of mechanical damage. This can vary from oil leakage to internal contamination such as “black sludge” formation. In diesel engines in particular, it can even cause problems with the particulate filter.
However, the greater the oil surplus, the greater the possible damage. So don’t panic if the dipstick shows that there is a tiny bit too much in it. However, it is good to keep this in mind!
